AW + AI: #002 - LaunchLemonadeThis series is a lab notebook of Anthony’s experiments, learnings, and work in progress with integrating AI in his life and businesses. Entry: #002 Date: 19-December-2024 Observations & Thoughts:Freedom. I choose to use AI tools to create more freedom in my life.
Yes, I’ve read the reports on how much water is used by AI. At the same time, the computing power of AI can shorten the timeline for people to create solutions for many of the problems created by humans. As a Gen Xer, I've lived through many technological advances from cloud computing to mobile phones to blockchain and crypto, and know the power of getting in early. Early adopters in those early days of crypto were rewarded for taking a leap, learning the ecosystem, and figuring out how to use the systems. While some people hoarded their rewards, there were people who used their wealth to increase accessibility to the upside of the new tech. Focus: LaunchLemonade 🍋Quick back story, I learned about LaunchLemonade through my participation in the Angel Investing School created by Andy Ayim. In the Spring of this year, I was reading a post about one of the people on Andy’s team, Cien Solon. When I checked out her LinkedIn, I noticed the company LaunchLemonade, co-founded by Cien. What sold me initially was Andy using the platform to expand access to knowledge and tools about angel investing and startups. I’ve been a customer ever since because of the human-centered way that Cien and the LaunchLemonade team evolved the capabilities of LaunchLemonade. Think of it as the Canva of AI Apps. The single multi-tool platform of Canva replaced my need for Adobe’s design products. Plus, it was exponentially easier to use. In the same way, LaunchLemonade allows you to create multiple custom tools on multiple LLMs. And you can switch it up as needed. The best part is you can do this for a single cost. Overall what I dig the most is the simplicity of the interface and ability to create. There have been a ton of product updates from the major players and new platforms coming to market to close out the year. That’s great and all, but the majority of the population may not need the latest features. Enter…LaunchLemonade 🍋 Experiments:Experiment #1: Replication Goal: Process: While I dig the capabilities, I didn’t like that I had no clue who was interacting with the tool. How could I help someone who questions? How could I update the custom tool if I don’t know what new features people want? In this experiment, I created a duplicate of a core custom GPT on LaunchLemonade. 💡Helpful Tip: Copy and paste your custom info into a Word or Google Doc. It’s much easier to edit and update. I created a template that includes the Name, Description, Instructions, Knowledge Base, Settings, etc. This is a good practice no matter what AI platform you are using. Results: What’s really cool is I can test the same setup but use Claude, Llama, or even Mistral instead of ChatGPT. That’s what I really dig about LaunchLemonade. The flexibility to test and use multiple LLMs under a single platform. It just makes sense to me. As of today, I have created 15+ Lemonades for internal business and personal use. Each one has a specific use case. I use multiple LLMs, but most of the time I default to Claude and ChatGPT…for now. Experiment #2: Scale Impact aka Help More People Goal: Process: What’s the solution to helping more people when the people you have been helping are impacted by budget cuts? Evolve. I’m not new to the app and cloud computing game. Over 15 years ago, I created a cloud-based information security company that billed monthly subscriptions. It failed, but I learned a ton. Today with AI platforms, it’s much easier to create something of value that’s a win-win-win. My challenge with creating publicly available tools on ChatGPT was that I never knew who used the tools unless the person told me. Plus, I feel like it’s the Apple Store all over again. That’s where LaunchLemonade is super helpful from setup to launch. It took me less than 15 minutes to set up a public-facing page of tools I created. This included login components, paid subscription options, and variable free credits. And while some people may not dig the aesthetic, I’m cool with it because I’m focused on the outcomes the tools create for people. The interface can always be upgraded later. Results: Conclusions:I highly recommend using LaunchLemonade for personal and business needs. While you don’t get the full functionality and interfaces of the native LLM (Claude Artifacts, ChatGPT Canvas, Perplexity Spaces, etc), you can do almost all that most users will need to complement their lives and businesses. You could always use LaunchLemonade to experiment with which LLMs work best for the use cases, then go deeper on the native platform with your super specific use case. Key Takeaways:
