Alchemy Sessions: Be open to experimenting in your work

Be open to experimenting in your work

This originally appeared as a LinkedIn post. I wanted to expand on that post for all of you.

On the real, transitions and transformations can be messy. Am I right?

Currently, landing a XIR (X in Residence) and fractional role is taking longer than expected.

Until then, I’ve been working on ways to stay connected to my global business community, make money to pay the bills, and accommodate my increasing responsibilities as a caregiver for a family member.

And I believe I’ve found a solution: I’m diving into this experiment on a model that I first saw shared by Lindsey Lerner at Generalist World 🌀: Scheming Sessions.

🫶🏾 Why did it resonate with me? Simplicity

Know Thyself

Too often when we look to experiment with our work (career, business, or both), the conversation centers on massive shifts or the "more is better mentality". Sometimes the experiment is looking at your lived experience and doing less...remove the fluff as you create.

This requires on a basic level to know what you really like and don't like doing. Just because you're good at skill, doesn't mean you like doing it.

I dig getting work done like when I:
- Helped a footwear brand expand into multiple regions of Whole Foods at the same time
- Co-created with founders on AI solutions to streamline their work and personal lives
- Supported a small business to get a $1M contract with a F1000
- Secured a partnership with university for a startup in the information security space
- Supported the mental health of underestimated founders through the Founder Mental Wealth Report

What I don’t like about typical advising and consulting:
- Back and forth long emails threads
- Capped number of sessions
- Boxed into a limited scope

Alchemy Sessions

I'm calling my version of the experiment, Alchemy Sessions.

Why am I doing this experiment?
🤝🏾 Partnership and collaboration > transactional and one-off

There's an unlock that happens over time as I work with someone. The nuances of their lives start to shine through which creates a rich tapestry of context.

What's included in the Alchemy Sessions:
⚡ Unlimited strategy calls for one year (including nights and weekends 😊)
🎯 Actionable aligned advice during each session, not on an email thread lost in one of the hundreds of PDFs that you’ll never look at again
💡 One-time Fee (no up-sales or gotchas)
🧠 You get direct access to my spicy gumbo of experiences and insights.

When we work together in an Alchemy Session, we go into the lab to work through challenges, forks in your road, and more. You set the agenda for each session. It's based on your life including your career and/or business shift over the year.

🥳 Unlimited really? Yup! My hypothesis is people who take action only schedule time when needed, not frivolously.

🙅🏾‍♂️ What’s the catch? No catch.

👉🏾 Even pricing is simple. The norm is to charge extra for payment plans. I've always thought that was not right on many levels. People who usually use a payment plan either have limited funds, watching their cash flow or both. That's capitalism for you 🤷🏾‍♂️.
👉🏾 👉🏾 Simple: $3,000 One-time payment or 4 equal payments of $750.

Personal Challenge

With any experiment, I love at some playfulness to it. For this experiment, I’m challenging myself to start working with 10 people in Alchemy Sessions within the next 10 days. Good round numbers that make space for weekends and other hurdles while helping me focus.

And with any personal challenge, there must be a reward. For this one, my reward is a spa day and 2-day staycation. ✨

Next Steps

I’m thankful you read this edition of Are You Aware?

Are you one of those 10 people in the next 10 days? If so, reply to this message.
🎁 As a subscriber, you'll get your first quarter for $500 instead of $750.

If you know someone who would dig this, please share with them.

If you want to sign up for the Alchemy Sessions, but it’s not financially accessible right now, you can schedule a Power Hour 1-on-1 Advisory Session ($350).

Still have questions? Book a 15-min intro call with me.

Last thing, please let my experiment be your permission slip to experiment more in your life.
